The IXW-MA-SOFT is a multi-purpose adaptor with licenses for 1, 5, or 10 IX-SOFT installations.

The IXW-MA-SOFT comes with 4 contact inputs and 10 relay outputs. The inputs on the adaptor can be used to send a command to a specific station to perform a task. The relays on the adaptor can be associated to a specific station and programmed to change state when relay output 1 or 2 on the associated station changes state. This is beneficial when door release contacts need to be located inside the facility at a secure location, instead of at the door station.

The IXW-MA-SOFT is surface mounted to a 3 or 4-gang box or ring. Wire terminations are made via option connectors supplied with the unit. Each connecting wire will need to be secured with a wire nut or crimp connector.

The IXW-MA-SOFT is a PoE device, and can be programmed via IX Support Tool 5.0 or later.

3) How is the Aiphone IXW-MA-SOFT powered, and do I need to run a separate power supply to it?
No separate supply. The IXW-MA-SOFT is a PoE device on IEEE 802.3af class 0, so a single Cat cable from a PoE switch or injector carries data and power. Budget 6.48 watts max per adaptor when sizing the switch.
4) Can the IXW-MA-SOFT relays switch a 24V electric strike or maglock directly?
Only within 24V AC/DC at 500mA. Relays 1-4 are Form C and relays 5-10 are Form A, all rated 24V AC/DC 500mA. Most electric strikes and every maglock pull more than that, so run the relay as a dry contact into the strike's own power supply or a relay module rather than putting the lock load on the adaptor.
5) I want the door release button inside the office instead of at the entry station. Does the Aiphone IXW-MA-SOFT do that?
That is the main reason it exists. Associate a relay on the adaptor with the door station, and the relay changes state when relay output 1 or 2 on that station changes state, so the actual release contact lives wherever you mount the adaptor. For a property manager or a school front office, that means the wiring to the lock terminates in a secure room instead of in the entry station out at the door.
6) What is the difference between the Form C and Form A outputs on the Aiphone multi-purpose adaptor?
Four of the ten outputs (1-4) are Form C, meaning they give you both a normally open and a normally closed contact off a common. Outputs 5-10 are Form A, normally open only. If you have a fail-safe device that needs to drop on activation, or you need a normally closed input to an access panel, use one of the four Form C relays and save the Form A relays for straight momentary release and signaling.
7) What software do I need to program the Aiphone IXW-MA-SOFT?
Programming is done with IX Support Tool, version 5.0 or later. The adaptor has no local interface, so the inputs, the station associations, and the relay behavior are all set from the Support Tool on a PC on the same network.

In a hard freeze climate, keep it inside the heated envelope.
