The PS-POE is a PoE splitter that provides a 24V DC output to power the strobe light in Aiphone’s wall boxes and towers. The IX Series 2 emergency stations have a secondary PoE output (passthrough) that can be used to connect to this splitter. The PoE passthrough will only be usable if the IX Series station is connected and powered via a PoE+ switch.

Aiphone PS-POE – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Aiphone PS-POE power splitter actually do?
The PS-POE takes Power over Ethernet in and breaks out a 24V DC output, which is what powers the strobe light in Aiphone's wall boxes and towers. It is not a station or an intercom itself, just the power conversion piece that sits in the enclosure and feeds the strobe.
2) Will the PS-POE work if my IX Series station is on a standard PoE switch?
No. The splitter is fed from the secondary PoE output (passthrough) on an IX Series 2 emergency station, and that passthrough only works when the station itself is connected and powered from a PoE+ switch. On a standard PoE switch there is no passthrough power, so the PS-POE gets nothing. Budget a PoE+ port before you spec it.
3) Which Aiphone stations feed the PS-POE splitter?
IX Series 2 emergency stations, which carry a secondary PoE output (passthrough) specifically for this connection. The splitter is part of the IX Series accessory line.
4) Do I need a separate low voltage transformer to run the strobe on an Aiphone emergency tower?
Not if you use the PS-POE. It derives the 24V DC for the strobe from the PoE passthrough on the IX Series 2 station, so you run one network cable to the station instead of pulling a separate power circuit to the tower. The catch is that the station has to be on a PoE+ switch for the passthrough to carry power.
5) Can the PS-POE be mounted outdoors on an emergency tower?
It is built for exterior and public-area duty: the enclosure is weather resistant and vandal resistant, which is what you want alongside a parking-lot tower or an exposed wall box. It is a commercial-grade item, not a residential accessory.
6) Does the PS-POE enclosure come with a lock?
The enclosure is lockable but the lock is not supplied, so add one to the order if the install calls for a secured cover. An L-bracket for holding the enclosure open during service is included, along with the surface-mounting plate.
7) What screws and driver bit does the PS-POE use?
Mounting hardware is included and it is 8x32 with a T-15 Torx head, so bring a T-15 Torx driver to the install. The Torx head is part of the tamper resistance on the enclosure.
