1) Will the Aiphone LEM-1DLC master station release a door strike on its own, or do I need a separate relay?
The LEM-1DLC has a dedicated door release button wired to a normally open dry contact rated 30V AC/DC, 1A. That contact switches the strike circuit directly, so no add-on relay module is needed as long as the strike and its power stay within 30V AC/DC and 1 amp. Strikes drawing more than that need an external relay or dedicated strike power supply carrying the load.
2) How many Aiphone LEM-1DLC master stations can answer the same door station?
Up to four master stations connect to answer one door station, and the system supports as many as six master stations answering the same door. A privacy LED on each unit lights when another master has already picked up the call, so a second person does not break into a conversation in progress.
3) Can I use the LEM-1DLC to talk between offices as well as answer the door?
No. The LEM-1DLC provides communication to LE series door stations and to any remote station compatible with the LEM or LEF series, but there is no master-to-master communication. If staff need to talk desk to desk as well as answer the entrance, this is the wrong unit for that half of the job.
4) What wire do I need to run between the Aiphone LEM-1DLC and the door station, and how far can it go?
Between the door station and the master, run Aiphone #822202 (22AWG) or #821802 (18AWG). Between master stations, use #822203 (22AWG) or #821803 (18AWG). Distance limit is 650 feet on 22AWG and 1,600 feet on 18AWG, so a long run from a gate or a far entrance is the case where you step up to 18AWG.
5) What power supply does the Aiphone LEM-1DLC master station need?
Each LEM-1DLC draws 4W at 16V AC max, or 200mA at 24V DC max. Size the supply for the number of masters on the system plus the door station and strike load, since a multi-master installation multiplies that draw per unit.
6) Is the Aiphone LEM-1DLC hands-free, or do you have to hold a button to talk?
Operation is push-to-talk, release-to-listen at the master station: you hold TALK to speak and let go to hear. The visitor at the door station is hands-free and does not hold anything. Front desks that want fully hands-free answering at the staff end should look at a different intercom type.
7) Can the LEM-1DLC intercom master sit on a reception desk instead of being mounted on the wall?
Both. The unit wall-mounts or sits on a desk or counter, which is why it works for a reception position that moves as well as a fixed back-office location.
8) Can I turn the door call tone down at one station without affecting the others?
Yes. Each LEM-1DLC carries its own voice volume control and incoming call tone volume control on the unit, along with TALK, OFF and door release buttons. So a master in a quiet office can be set low while one in a shop area stays loud. Audio output is 100mW.
