Plan for 9-3/4 inches by 5-7/8 inches on the wall face, with the box projecting 1-15/16 inches off the surface. It mounts to a flat wall surface, so allow a clear, even area of that footprint clear of trim, brick returns, or door frame.

There is. The box is built with inside space for cabling, so the conductors feeding the AX-DVF can be coiled and dressed behind the station rather than crammed. With only 1-15/16 inches of depth, keep the service loop trimmed to what you actually need.

Four speed nuts ship with the box, which is what secures the AX-DVF station into the enclosure. Fasteners for anchoring the box to the wall are not part of that count, so pick anchors to suit the substrate (masonry, stud, or stucco).

Use a surface box when you cannot cut into the wall. On solid masonry, tile, or a finished exterior where a back box cannot be set, the SBX-AXDVF lets the AX-DVF mount to the face of a flat wall with the cabling run inside the enclosure. If the wall is open or you are roughing in new construction, a flush back box is the cleaner look and this box is unnecessary.

The SBX-AXDVF is matched to the AX-DVF only. Both are two-piece mounting boxes for activation switches; the difference is the switch series each is matched to. The 1010 is specified for the 59J and 614-SSN series, while the 1015 covers a wider spread including the 59, 59V, 1078, 216, 830 and 614 series.
