Metallics TS109 Anchor 1 x 9 Wedge Ancr St-Zn (5 pcs)

Wedge anchors like the Metallics TS109 are concrete anchors. They work by a clip expanding against solid, uncracked base material, so they belong in poured structural concrete. Hollow block, brick and mortar joints do not give the clip the uniform wall it needs, and in those bases a sleeve anchor or a screen tube with adhesive is the right call instead.

Five pieces per pack. At 1 inch by 9 inches these are large-diameter anchors, so a single pack covers one equipment base or a short run of heavy standoffs rather than a whole job. Order by the pack count if you are setting a bolt pattern with more than five holes.

It is zinc plated carbon steel. That finish is intended for dry interior use and will handle incidental moisture, but zinc plating is not a marine or continuously wet duty coating. For exterior exposure, washdown areas or anything near chlorides, specify a stainless wedge anchor instead.

The 9 inch overall length of the TS109 is split between embedment in the concrete and the stud sticking out to clear your fixture, washer and nut. The thicker the base plate, rail or equipment foot you are clamping, the less length is left in the slab, so work out your required embedment first and then confirm the remainder covers the fixture plus nut. For thin plate work a shorter 1 inch anchor is the more economical choice.

A rotary hammer with a 1 inch carbide bit, a blow-out bulb or vacuum to clear the hole, and a torque wrench with a socket large enough for the nut. Wedge anchors are torque-set: the nut is tightened to draw the cone into the expansion clip, so hand-tight with an adjustable wrench is not a substitute on a 1 inch diameter anchor.
