1) What size hole do I drill for a 5/8 inch wedge anchor?
A 5/8 inch wedge anchor like the TS506 is set in a 5/8 inch hole drilled with a carbide bit to ANSI hammer-drill tolerance. The anchor diameter matches the bit size, which is how all wedge anchors work: you drill nominal, blow the hole clean, drive the anchor through the fixture, and tighten the nut to expand the clip against the concrete.
2) Can I use the Metallics TS506 wedge anchor in a block wall or hollow core slab?
No. Wedge anchors are for solid, poured concrete only. In hollow block, brick, or hollow core plank the expansion clip has nothing to bear against and the anchor will spin or pull. Use a sleeve anchor or a screw anchor rated for masonry in those bases.
3) Is the zinc plating on the TS506 anchor OK for outdoor or wet locations?
Zinc plated steel is a dry-location finish. It is fine for interior concrete, equipment pads inside a building, and conduit or strut support indoors. For exterior exposure, roof curbs, parking structures, pool rooms or anywhere washed down, specify a hot dip galvanized or 304/316 stainless wedge anchor instead.
4) Is the nut and washer included with the Metallics TS506 wedge anchor?
Wedge anchors ship as a complete assembly: threaded stud, expansion clip, plus nut and washer on the threads. That is what you tighten to set the anchor, so nothing extra is needed to install the TS506 beyond a 5/8 inch carbide bit, a hammer drill, and a torque wrench or socket.
5) Can a wedge anchor be removed or reused once it is set?
No. Once the clip expands it is permanent. You can back off the nut and remove the fixture, but the anchor body stays in the concrete. Standard practice is to cut or drive the stud flush and relocate. If you need a fastening you can take out and re-fasten, use a drop-in anchor or a female threaded insert instead of the TS506.
