1) What size hole do I drill for a 1/2 inch wedge anchor?
A 1/2 inch wedge anchor like the TS1210D is set in a 1/2 inch diameter hole drilled with a carbide hammer bit. Wedge anchors are nominal-diameter matched, so the bit size equals the anchor size. Drill deeper than the embedment you need so dust can settle below the anchor.

3) Will a wedge anchor hold in block or brick, or only in concrete?
Wedge anchors such as the 1/2 inch TS1210D are designed for solid poured concrete. They expand against the hole wall, and hollow block or brick webs can blow out under that force. In hollow masonry use a sleeve anchor or a screw anchor rated for the base material.

At 10 inches the TS1210D leaves plenty of stud above the concrete for thick base plates, grout beds, topping slabs, leveling shims, or stacked steel. For a thin bracket on bare concrete it is far more anchor than needed and a shorter 1/2 inch anchor is the cleaner choice.
