Metallics JTS4414D – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a wedge anchor hold in block or brick, or do I need concrete?
Wedge anchors like the 1/2 x 4-1/4 JTS4414D are for solid poured concrete. They work by expanding a clip against the wall of the drilled hole, which needs the compressive strength of concrete to resist. In hollow block, brick, or grouted CMU you want a sleeve anchor or a screw anchor rated for masonry instead.
2) Do Metallics JTS4414D anchors come with nuts and washers?
A wedge anchor of this type is supplied as a complete assembly, the threaded stud with the expansion clip, nut and washer on the end, so you drive it and tighten the nut down. You will need a 1/2 inch carbide hammer drill bit and a wrench for the nut; those are not in the jar of 25.
3) What is the Metallics part number to reorder these 1/2 inch anchors?
Order by Metallics part number JTS4414D. That number covers the 1/2 x 4-1/4 zinc plated steel wedge anchor supplied 25 to a jar.
