1) What thread size do Metallics JDIA38L drop-in anchors take?
The JDIA38L drop-in anchor is threaded 3/8-16, so it accepts a 3/8 inch bolt or threaded rod with 16 threads per inch. That is the internal thread, so your hanger rod, bolt, or strut fitting hardware needs to be 3/8-16 to thread into it.
2) Can I use a drop-in anchor in hollow block or drywall?
No. The JDIA38L is a drop-in expansion anchor that works by expanding against the wall of a drilled hole in solid base material, so it is for poured concrete. In hollow block, brick, or any hollow wall it has nothing solid to expand into and will spin or pull. Use a toggle or a sleeve type anchor rated for hollow base material there.
3) How many anchors come in a jar of Metallics JDIA38L?

The lip is a flange on the top of the anchor body that seats on the surface of the concrete and keeps the anchor from being driven below flush when you set it. On the JDIA38L it gives you a consistent flush top so the 3/8-16 threads stay at the surface and your bolt engages full depth. If your detail calls for the anchor set below the surface, a non-lipped drop-in is the one to use.
6) Will a 3/8-16 drop-in anchor work for overhead conduit and strut hanging?
That is the common use for it. The JDIA38L takes 3/8-16 threaded rod or bolts, which is the standard size for electrical hanger rod, strut trapeze and conduit support in a concrete deck. It is a steel zinc plated anchor, so keep it to dry interior decks. For the actual load you can hang, follow the load values for your base material thickness and embedment per your engineer or local code.
7) Is the drop-in anchor removable or reusable once set?
The anchor body stays in the concrete permanently once the plug is driven, but the bolt is not captive. You can back the 3/8-16 bolt out and re-thread into it later, which is why drop-ins get used where fixtures or hangers may be taken down and reinstalled. The anchor itself cannot be pulled back out and reused in another hole.
