No core is included. The QL82SR-SIC is built less core with the prep for a full-size (large format) Schlage interchangeable core, so you supply the FSIC core keyed into your existing Schlage IC system. 3) Will the Arrow QL82SR drop into the holes left by an existing commercial cylindrical lock?
In most cases yes. It uses the standard 161 door prep with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and a 2-3/4 inch backset, which is the common commercial bored-lock prep. The latch faceplate is 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inches. If the door you are pulling the old lock off of is 2-3/8 inch backset or has a 1 inch face bore, this will not line up.
4) Will the QL82SR latch into the strike already in my frame?
The standard strike shipped with the QL Series is the 306 ASA ANSI strike, 4-7/8 x 1-1/4 inches, and the latch has a 1/2 inch throw. If your frames are already prepped for a 4-7/8 inch ANSI strike, the lock latches into what is there and you can leave the frame alone. Frames cut for a small T-strike or a round-corner residential strike will need new prep or a different strike.
5) Is this lock approved for a fire-rated door?
The QL Series is UL and cUL listed for use on 3 hour, A label single swinging doors, and the latchbolt itself is UL listed. It also meets ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 and Federal Specification FF-H-106C.
6) My building is on small format interchangeable core, not Schlage large format. Can I still use this Arrow?
Not this version. The QL82SR-SIC is prepped specifically for a Schlage full-size (large format) interchangeable core, and an SFIC core will not seat in that prep. The QL Series is offered with prep for small format IC as well, and with a conventional solid brass 6-pin cylinder in Arrow A or Schlage C keyway keyed different with two brass keys, so order the QL82 variant that matches the key system you already run.
7) What is a Grade 2 storeroom lever I can use instead of the Arrow QL82SR when Grade 1 is not required?
