The RL Series has been enhanced to offer removable throughbolts and a wide variety of designs, finishes and functions. The RL Series cylindrical locksets are an economical value for a variety of application. Perfect for multi-family housing markets, as well as light commercial applications.

 

Standard features 

  • Construction: Cold rolled steel with zinc dichromate finish for corrosion resistance. Requires standard 2-1/8" (53.97mm) bore through door.
  • Door thickness: Fits 1-3/8" (34.93mm) to 1-3/4" (44.45mm) doors standard.
  • Backset: 2-3/8" (60.31mm) or 2-3/4" (69.85mm). 
  • Latch: Brass 1/2" (12.7mm) throw, UL Listed, guarded latchbolt on all locking functions.

1) What does the Arrow RL08 dummy lever actually do - does it latch?
No latch at all. The RL08 is rigid trim for one side of the door only, used as a pull or to match the active trim on an adjacent opening. The lever does not turn and nothing retracts, so there is no latchbolt, no strike, and no bore needed for a latch. If you need the lever to turn and retract a latch on a closet or hall door, you want a passage function instead.
2) Does the RL08 dummy lever use the same 2-1/8 inch bore as the rest of the RL Series?
The RL Series is built around a standard 2-1/8 inch cross bore through the door, with backsets of 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch on the latching functions. Since the RL08 is dummy trim with no latch, you are mounting to the face of the door with the supplied wood and machine screws rather than working to a backset. The rose is 3-3/8 inch diameter, so it covers an existing 2-1/8 inch bore if you are converting a door that used to carry a working lockset.
3) Does one Arrow RL08 cover both sides of a door, or do I need two?
One RL08 is trim for one side of the door only. On a pair of French or closet doors where you want a lever on each face, order one per side. Some brands sell dummies as matched pairs instead, for example the Emtek Arts and Crafts and Cortina dummy leversets, which are supplied as a pair.
4) What is an equivalent Grade 2 dummy lever if the Arrow RL08 trim design does not match the rest of the doors?

5) We need a dummy lever for a high-traffic corridor door - is there a heavier option than the Arrow RL08?
Yes. The BEST 9K Series 1DT single dummy trim is a Grade 1 heavy duty non-keyed dummy lever, and the Accentra 455LN Augusta 5400 Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty single dummy cylindrical lever. The Arrow RL08 is Grade 2, which suits multi-family and light commercial openings; step to one of the Grade 1 dummies where the trim takes constant pulling.
6) The door actually needs to latch - what should I order instead of the Arrow RL08?
The RL08 is a dummy: rigid trim for one side of the door with no latch at all. For a door that needs to close and latch without a key, use a passage lockset such as the Accentra 5301LN Augusta Grade 2 passage/closet lever, the Falcon B101 Grade 2 non-handed cylindrical passage lever, or the Hager 2510 Grade 2 passage lever with the Withnell design. 10) What lever styles and finishes does the Arrow RL08 come in?
Two lever designs, Broadway (BRR) and Sierra (SR), each offered in six finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil-rubbed bronze, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Pick the lever and finish that match the working locksets already on your other openings, since the whole point of a dummy is that it reads identical to the active trim beside it.
11) I ordered an RL08 but I actually need the lever to work - what should I get instead?

The Arrow RL08 is built for 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch doors. Those are latching passage sets rather than dummy trim, so confirm the opening does not actually want a working latch.
14) Is a keyed lever like the Cal-Royal AG05 a substitute for the Arrow RL08?
No. The RL08 is non-keyed dummy trim with no cylinder and no latch.
