1) Does the Arrow 7100CR-UCX interchangeable core come keyed, or do I have to pin it myself?
It ships uncombinated, meaning no pins or key cuts are set. A locksmith has to combinate it to your key system before it will operate anything. That is the point of ordering it this way: you control the keying, whether that is a new master system or adding a core to an existing one.
2) Will an Arrow WB keyway core work in Best SFIC housings?
Yes. The Arrow 7100CR-UCX is a small format interchangeable core cut to the Best SFIC figure-8 profile, so it drops into any housing built for Best-style SFIC: knobs, levers, mortise housings, rim cylinders, padlocks and cabinet locks. The WB keyway is the Arrow designation for that Best-compatible section.
3) I have a building on Best SFIC with a control key. Can I swap these cores in without changing the locks?
That is exactly the use case. Because it is a small format interchangeable core, a control key pulls the old core and this one drops into the same housing, no disassembly of the lockset and no door prep. Have it combinated to your existing system first, and confirm your site keyway matches WB before the core is pinned.
4) Is the Arrow WB core 6-pin or 7-pin, and does that matter for my existing masterkey system?
It is built as a 7-pin core. Pin count matters: a 7-pin system uses a longer key blade and deeper stack, and a 6-pin system's keys will not reliably operate a core pinned to 7. Match the core to whatever depth your existing system was set up on, and tell your locksmith the pin count when you send it out to be combinated.
5) Do I need anything besides the core to put it in service?
Two things are not in the box. You need a housing already prepped for small format interchangeable core (an SFIC knob, lever, mortise or rim housing), and you need the core pinned and keys cut, since it arrives uncombinated. No keys, no control key and no housing are supplied with the core itself.
6) What finish is the Arrow uncombinated SFIC core, and will it match my other door hardware?
Satin chrome, 626. That is the standard commercial finish on most Grade 1 and Grade 2 lever and knob trim, so the core face reads as a match on typical brushed chrome or satin nickel-look openings. It is the only finish offered on this core.
7) What is the core made of, and will it hold up in a high traffic entrance?
Solid brass construction with a reinforced sleeve. Brass is what keeps the pin chambers and plug from wearing oval under constant cycling, and the reinforced sleeve adds resistance to twisting attacks on the core itself, which is where most abuse lands on an exterior or common-area door.
