B-LINE SB59819FB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much weight can the B-Line SB59819FB caster base support on a rolling open frame rack?
The SB59819FB heavy duty caster base is rated for an 810 lb dynamic load, meaning that is what it will carry while the rack is being rolled. Count the rack frame itself plus all mounted gear against that figure when you are loading a populated relay rack before a move.
2) Will the caster base raise my rack height, and does that affect my usable rack units?
It adds height under the rack rather than to the mounting rails. The base stands 20.31 in tall, so a rack set on it sits that much higher off the floor. Usable RU on the frame does not change, but overhead clearance, cable tray height and ceiling drops all need to account for the extra 20.31 in.
3) Should I use a caster base or bolt my open frame rack to the floor?
A caster base is the choice when the rack has to be rolled for service access, moved between rooms, or used in a space where floor anchoring is not allowed. The SB59819FB is built for that, rated at 810 lb dynamic, which is load while moving. If the rack is permanent, carries seismic requirements, or is very tall and top heavy, a fixed floor-anchored base is the better route.
4) Does the B-Line SB59819FB caster base come with the rack?
No. The SB59819FB is the caster base only, a steel 19 in wide rolling platform that an open frame rack mounts onto. The rack frame is ordered separately.
5) Is the B-Line caster base finished to match black open frame racks?
Yes, it is flat black powder coat over steel, the same finish family used on B-Line series open frame racks, so it will not stand out against a black relay rack in a telecom room or equipment closet.
6) Is the B-Line caster base heavy enough that one person can install it?
It weighs 45 lb by itself, so one person can handle the base, but setting an assembled open frame rack down onto it is a two-person job. Easiest sequence is to mount the base first, then build the rack up from there.
