The shelf measures 23.31 inches across, which is the full width of a standard 19-inch rack including the mounting flanges that pick up the rack rails. Depth is 30 inches and height is 6 inches, so you need a rack with at least 30 inches of usable depth front to back and enough clear space above and below for a 6 inch shelf profile.

Rated at 200 lb load capacity. It is a solid steel shelf, so weight can sit anywhere on the surface rather than needing to bridge across vent slots. The shelf itself weighs 6.4 lb.

Double sided means the shelf mounts to the rails at both the front and the rear of the rack instead of cantilevering off the front posts only. That two-point support is what lets it carry 200 lb and keep deep, heavy equipment level. It does mean your rack needs rear rails, or rear posts with mounting provision, at the matching 30 inch depth.

Not on its own. It is built as a double sided shelf, meaning it needs support at the front and the rear, so it belongs in a four-post open frame rack or a cabinet with front and rear rails. On a two-post rack you want a cantilever or center-mount shelf instead.

The SB596V23156SSL is a solid steel shelf, which gives you an unbroken surface for small boxes, media converters, UPS units, or anything with feet that would fall into a vent slot. If you are stacking gear that relies on drawing cooling air up through its base, a vented shelf is the better choice. For general equipment support and heavy static loads, solid is the stronger deck.

At 6 inches of height, plan on roughly 3-1/2 rack units of vertical space, since one rack unit is 1.75 inches. Leave that much clear in your elevation before you order.

It is finished in silver powder coat over steel, which matches Eaton B-Line silver open frame racks. If your racks are black, the shelf will stand out.
