The N225SS6 channel nut is tapped 1/2"-13, so it takes 1/2 inch all-thread rod or 1/2"-13 hex bolts. If your rod is 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20, this is the wrong nut in the family.

No spring. The N225SS6 is a plain channel nut, so nothing holds it in position while you set the hanger. You insert it into the strut, turn it a quarter turn to seat the teeth in the channel lips, then hold it while you start the rod. Overhead, that means two hands or a helper; if you are working alone on a long run, a spring nut version is the easier part to install.

Yes. The N225SS6 is Type 316 stainless, which is the grade specified for chloride exposure: coastal air, chemical and wastewater plants, natatoriums, food processing washdown. Pair it with 316 strut and 316 threaded rod, since mixing stainless with plain electro-galvanized hardware in a wet location gives you a corrosion point at the joint.

The nut alone is just the anchor point in the channel. A rod-hung trapeze needs the strut, 1/2 inch threaded rod to match the 1/2"-13 tapping, and the clamps or straps for the conduit or pipe. For a bolted bracket connection instead of rod, you need 1/2"-13 hex bolts of the right length. In a 316 application, order all of those in stainless so you are not mixing metals.

Both land the same load in the channel; the difference is handling. A plain nut like the N225SS6 is the cheaper, simpler part and works well when you can reach the connection and hold it, or when you are pre-assembling trapezes on the ground. A spring nut holds its position in the channel by itself, which matters on overhead runs where you are on a ladder with a rod in one hand. For long horizontal runs where you set many nuts before loading them, the spring version saves real time.
