The B293A-18ZN carries a uniform load capacity of 400 lb. That is a uniform rating, so a concentrated point load hung at the free end of the 18 inch arm is not the same thing, spread the load along the channel where you can.

The channel opens downward on this bracket. That puts the strut nut slot on the underside, which is what you want when you are hanging conduit, trapeze runs or equipment beneath a wall or column mounted arm. If you need the opening facing up to sit something on top of it, this is the wrong orientation and you want the upward opening version of the bracket instead.

There is one mounting hole, 9/16 inch in diameter, so it takes a 1/2 inch bolt or anchor with clearance. Fasteners and anchors are not supplied, pick the anchor to match the substrate, concrete, block, or structural steel.

The bracket measures 1.62 in wide, which is the standard 1-5/8 inch strut profile, so ordinary channel nuts, spring nuts and strut clamps sized for 1-5/8 inch channel drop into it. Overall it is 3.5 in high and 18 in long.

With only one 9/16 inch mounting hole, this bracket is anchored on a single fastener, so it can rotate about that bolt unless the back of the bracket is seated tight against a flat surface. For a cantilevered arm carrying a moment, a lot of installers prefer a two or four hole bracket or a post base plus a diagonal brace. Use the single-hole B293A where the load is modest and the mounting face is solid and flat.

Electro-plated zinc on steel is a light indoor duty coating. It is fine for dry interior mechanical rooms, ceilings and electrical rooms. For exterior, rooftop, wash-down, parking garage or coastal work, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless strut bracket instead, electro-plating will bloom and rust in those conditions.
