Baldwin 6738102 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Baldwin 6738 cylinder collar come with a cylinder?
No. The 6738 is the collar only, the decorative round ring that trims out around the cylinder. The cylinder itself has to be ordered separately.
2) What size hole does the Baldwin 6738 collar cover?
The collar measures 1-3/4 inches in diameter, so it trims the face of the door around a standard cylinder opening. Measure the visible bore on your door before ordering, since anything wider than 1-3/4 inches will show past the edge of the collar.
3) I'm replacing a worn cylinder ring on a Baldwin entry door. Can I order just the collar?
Yes, that is exactly what the 6738 is sold as, a standalone collar with no cylinder or lock body attached. If the existing ring is 1-3/4 inches across and the door shows an oil rubbed bronze finish, it drops back into the same spot.
4) Is the Baldwin 6738 collar solid brass or plated pot metal?
Solid forged brass. That is why it holds up as an exterior trim piece, and it is the same substrate Baldwin uses across the Estate line, so it sits consistently next to other Estate trim on the same door.
5) What finish is the Baldwin Estate 6738 round cylinder collar available in?
It is offered in 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, a living finish. If the rest of the entry set on the door is a different Baldwin finish number, the collar will not match.
6) Is this Baldwin collar suitable for a commercial building entrance?
Baldwin lists the Estate 6738 collar as a residential product. For apartment corridor doors or a commercial opening under a hardware schedule, spec a collar or cylinder ring from a commercial line rather than the Estate series.
7) What is the difference between the round 6738 collar and a decorative shaped Baldwin collar?
The 6738 is the contemporary round profile, a plain circular ring with no beading or scroll detail. Baldwin's ornate Estate collars carry shaped or patterned edges to sit under traditional escutcheons. Pick the round one when the rest of the trim is clean lined.
