Baldwin Estate 6755 Cylinder Lock Cover Plate

The 6755 is an oval cylinder collar, the escutcheon ring that trims out the hole where a rim lock cylinder passes through the door. It's cover trim only, no cylinder, no lock body. If you're replacing a worn or wrong-finish collar around an existing cylinder, this is the part. If you need the locking hardware itself, you need a rim cylinder ordered separately.

1-5/8 x 2-3/8 inches, oval. Measure the existing collar or the trim footprint on your door face before you order, because the oval shape means it only covers a hole centered within that footprint. A square collar of a different size will leave an outline in the finish where the old plate sat.

Brass substrate, supplied in 031 Non-Lacquered Brass. Non-lacquered means the brass is left bare, so it will darken and patina with handling and weather instead of holding a fixed color. That is the point of the finish on Estate Series trim, but if the other hardware on the door is lacquered or plated brass, the two will drift apart in appearance over time.

Baldwin classes the 6755 as residential hardware in the Estate Series line. It's decorative cylinder trim for a residential entry door, not a rated component. For a commercial opening under a hardware schedule, spec a commercial cylinder collar instead.

Shape is the whole decision, and it's driven by what's already on the door. The 6755 is the oval profile at 1-5/8 x 2-3/8 inches. Baldwin also builds square collars in the same family, including a 2-1/2 inch square version. Match the profile of the rest of the trim on the door, or match the shadow left by the collar you're pulling off, since a different outline will show on the finish.

You can, wherever those doors use standard rim lock cylinders. The one opening it won't cover is anything running a Baldwin 5704 rim lock. Note the finish: 031 Non-Lacquered Brass is a living finish, so a collar installed today on one door won't match a five-year-old bare brass collar next door until it has weathered in.
