Entry/Non-Egress: Supports 1 3⁄4” doors. Includes cylinder and deadbolt latch. Must order desired knobs or levers and knob/lever passage latch along with 6503.009 or 6504.009 Adaptor separately. For a 2-1/4” thick door, you must order the 8098.000.TP03 thick door kit for the cylinder and a 5“ solid spindle 05xx.004.

1) What comes in the box with the Baldwin Estate R027 privacy rosette, and what do I still have to order?
The R027 privacy rosette kit ships with either one or two roses depending on the Type you pick, the matching backplate, and the retainer or retainers that hold the rose to the door. Knobs or levers, the latch, and any adaptors are separate line items. So a privacy set is at minimum: the R027 roses plus your chosen knob or lever plus a privacy latch.
2) Should I buy the R027 rosette as a Pair or a Half Pair?
Buy the Pair when you are dressing both faces of one door, which is the normal privacy application (bed or bath). The Half Pair is a single rose, for replacing one damaged side or for a one sided application. Both options are offered in every finish the R027 comes in.
3) Will the R027 rose cover the holes left by my old tubular knob trim?
In most cases yes. Baldwin states the R027, along with the R029 and R054, covers most single tubular cut outs, so it works over a standard bored hole without patching the door. If your existing prep is an oversized or mortise prep rather than a single tubular bore, check the opening before committing.
4) What door thickness does the Baldwin Estate R027 hardware support, and what do I need for a 2-1/4 inch door?
The standard configuration supports 1-3/4 inch doors. For thicker doors there are add on kits: on an Entry/Non-Egress build a 2-1/4 inch door needs the 8098.000.TP03 thick door kit for the cylinder plus a 5 inch solid spindle, 05xx.004. On an Egress build the included spindle already spans 1.75 to 2.25 inches, but doors 2 to 2.25 inches thick require the 5399.xxx.C thick door kit.
5) Can I use a privacy R027 rose to build a passage or dummy set instead?
No. Baldwin splits the R027 rose by function. Privacy roses are used to create tubular privacy sets. Passage roses build tubular passage or mortise sectional entry sets, and dummy roses build full or half dummy sets. Order the rose that matches the function you want on that door.
6) What else does an Entry/Non-Egress Baldwin Estate build need besides the rose and knob?
An Entry/Non-Egress kit includes the cylinder and deadbolt latch. You still order the knobs or levers you want, the knob or lever passage latch, and either a 6503.009 or 6504.009 adaptor. Skipping the adaptor is the most common reason one of these builds arrives incomplete.
7) What finishes does the Baldwin Estate R027 rosette come in?
Fifteen finishes: 003 Polished Brass PVD, 031 Non-Lacquered Brass, 033 Vintage Brass, 044 Satin Brass PVD, 050 Satin Brass Black, 055 Polished Nickel PVD, 056 Lifetime PVD Satin Nickel, 060 Satin Brass Brown, 076 Lifetime PVD Graphite Nickel, 102 Oil Rubbed Bronze, 112 Venetian Bronze, 151 Antique Nickel, 190 Satin Black, 260 Polished Chrome, and 402 Distressed Oil Rubbed Bronze. If you are matching other openings in a building, order by the numeric code rather than the finish name, since several brass tones read similarly in photos.

The Estate Series R027 rose is a residential product. It suits single family homes, high end multi-family interiors, and hospitality guest rooms where the look matters. For commercial corridors or anything needing a graded and fire rated lockset, specify commercial trim instead.
9) Will my interior egress rose match the other R027 roses on the same door or in the same room?
Not necessarily. Baldwin notes that interior Egress roses do not match interior Non-Egress or Dummy roses. If you are running a consistent look across a run of doors, keep the function types consistent, or expect a visible difference at the egress opening.
10) What is the difference between the Egress and Non-Egress Baldwin Estate kits?
The Egress kit is the more complete package: cylinder, spindle, deadbolt latch, knob or lever latch, and the egress cartridge, so you only add the knobs or levers. The Non-Egress kit gives you the cylinder and deadbolt latch, and you supply the knob or lever, the passage latch, and a 6503.009 or 6504.009 adaptor. The Egress spindle also spans 1.75 to 2.25 inch doors, where Non-Egress needs a separate 5 inch spindle for thick doors.
11) Are the mounting screws on the Baldwin Estate roses exposed?
On the 10 inch rose interiors and exteriors the screws are exposed. The exception is the Entry and Entry Egress kits, which show exposed screws on the interior side only. Worth knowing if you are specifying for a client who wants a clean concealed face.
