Bobrick B-549 Double Coat Hook

Projection is 1-5/16 inches (35mm) off the finished wall face. That matters in a narrow toilet compartment or a tight corridor where anything deeper becomes a snag point. The escutcheon is 2 inches (50mm) in diameter and the hooks themselves stand 1/2 inch (13mm) high.

Yes. A threaded escutcheon threads over the mounting plate and covers it, so the fasteners are concealed and the hook sits tight to the wall with no visible gap. You fix the plate to the wall first, then spin the escutcheon down over it.

It is built from 304 stainless steel, the grade Bobrick uses for washroom accessories that get daily abuse and frequent cleaning. Stainless resists the moisture and chemical cleaners found in commercial restrooms and locker rooms, and there is no plated coating to chip off a hook that gets bumped by carts or bags.

A double hook gives two hanging points off one wall penetration, which is why it gets specified in toilet compartments and changing areas where a user needs to hang a coat and a bag at once. The tradeoff is load concentrated on one anchor point, so back the 1/2 inch high hooks into solid blocking or use anchors rated for the wall type. Where you only need one garment hung per position, a single hook keeps the profile smaller.

The hook mounts through a plate covered by a 2 inch threaded escutcheon, so it needs a flat surface and a fastener path suited to that substrate. On a hollow metal or plastic laminate partition panel, use through-bolts or anchors matched to the panel; on drywall, hit blocking or a stud. The hook itself is surface mounted and only takes up 1-5/16 inches of depth on the mounted face.

Satin stainless is the only finish offered on the B-549. If you are standardizing a washroom package, it pairs with the satin-finish stainless grab bars, paper holders and shelves common in commercial specs, so the hooks will not read as a mismatched brightness next to them.
