1) Is the Metallics JHTB80 hex tap bolt fully threaded, and what thread does it take?
The JHTB80 is a 3/8-16 hex tap bolt, meaning it is threaded the full length of the 1-3/4 inch shank rather than having a plain shoulder under the head. The 16 threads per inch is the standard UNC coarse pitch for 3/8 inch, so it mates with any standard 3/8-16 nut or tapped 3/8-16 hole. Threads are produced to IFI-199 (2014).
2) Will a 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 hex tap bolt hold up outdoors or in a damp mechanical room?
The JHTB80 is zinc plated steel, which handles indoor and normally dry or occasionally damp conditions such as mechanical rooms, strut runs and electrical rooms. For sustained wet, washdown or coastal exposure, go to the stainless version of the same hex tap bolt series instead, which Metallics builds in 18-8 stainless.
3) How many bolts come in a jar of Metallics JHTB80, and can I buy a smaller count?
Each jar holds 100 of the 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 hex tap bolts, and 100 count is the order minimum, so the jar is the smallest unit sold. Metallics does make other sizes and quantities in the HTB, JHTB and JSHTB hex tap bolt series available by request.
