Yes, provided your plate or channel has two clearance holes drilled on the right spacing for a 1 inch inside-width U-bolt, each sized for a 3/8 inch rod. Thread length of 2-1/4 inches on each leg gives you room to pass through strut or a plate of reasonable thickness and still get both hex nuts fully engaged.
