1) Is the Metallics JSBH281 hex bolt a fine thread or coarse thread?
Fine thread. The JSBH281 is a 3/8-24 hex bolt, 24 threads per inch, so it mates with 3/8-24 fine thread nuts and tapped holes only. A 3/8-16 coarse nut will not run on it. Length is 3-1/2 inches.
2) Will 18-8 stainless hex bolts hold up outdoors or in a wash-down area?
18-8 stainless is an austenitic alloy used where general atmospheric corrosion resistance is needed, including chemical and food-processing equipment, so outdoor and wash-down duty is normal for it. Aggressive chemical exposure or salt-heavy environments can call for 316 stainless or other special corrosion resistant materials instead.
3) What hole size do I need to drill for the Metallics JSBH281 bolt?
Shank outside diameter runs 0.3690 to 0.3750 inches, so a 3/8 inch clearance hole is tight. Drill 13/32 inch for a normal clearance fit, or 7/16 inch if you want slop for alignment.
