Cahaba CAFTWEI66 Weiss 65-1/2 in. Freestanding Mineral Composite Tub in Glossy White with White Drain

Allow 65-1/2 inches of length by 31 inches of width, with the tub standing 22-1/2 inches tall. It is a freestanding rectangular tub, so it is not set into a deck or alcove framing, but you still need clear floor on all four sides plus room to reach the drain rough-in at the center of the tub.

Drain placement is center, so the waste line comes up under the middle of the 65-1/2 inch length rather than at one end. Plan the floor penetration before the finished flooring goes down, because once a freestanding tub of this type is set there is no access panel to work through.

Both are included. The tub ships with a white integrated slotted overflow and a matching white toe-tap drain, so there is no separate drain kit to specify. The faucet is not included, and because the tub has no deck ledge it is set up for a freestanding floor-mount tub filler.

Soaking depth is 18 inches, matched by an 18 inch overflow height, with an 80 gallon capacity. That is a true soaker rather than a shallow bathing tub, and it means the water heater has to keep up: 80 gallons of fill is more than many 50 gallon residential tanks will deliver at temperature.

The Weiss is mineral composite, natural minerals bound with a high-grade casting resin, in a glossy white finish. That is a solid, dense material rather than a thin thermoformed shell, which is why it weighs 159 lbs where a comparable acrylic freestanding tub is light enough for one person to carry. Acrylic is easier to handle up a stairwell; the composite body holds heat and feels rigid underfoot.

Country of origin is the United States, and Cahaba states the natural minerals used in the body are also sourced in the USA. That is the detail institutional and government buyers working to domestic-sourcing language usually need on the submittal.

It can sit close to a wall, but it is built as a freestanding rectangular tub with a finished exterior on all sides and a center drain, so there is no tile flange and no apron to seal to a wall. Pushed tight to a wall you lose the look and create a cleaning gap. For a tight bathroom where one long side has to be against the wall, an alcove or drop-in tub with a flange is the better call.

One finish is offered on the Weiss CAFTWEI66: glossy white, with a white drain and overflow to match. If a contrasting drain is wanted, that is a different model number rather than an option on this one.

Plain soaker. It is a soaking tub with no pump, blower, or air channels, which means no electrical circuit, no access panel, and no motor to service. The depth does the work: 18 inches of water over an 80 gallon fill.
