Camden Door Controls CX-95S-7E – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Camden CX-95S-7E extension bar used for?
The CX-95S-7E is a 7 inch extension bar for Camden CX-95S magnetic door holders. When the wall or column the holder mounts to sits back from the swing of the door, the armature plate on the door never reaches the magnet. The extension bar spans that gap so the magnet meets the plate and the door parks open. It is an accessory, not a holder on its own, so you order it with (or for) a CX-95S-DH surface/flush mount or CX-95S-DH-FL floor mount holder.
2) Should I order the 3 inch or the 7 inch Camden magnetic door holder extension bar?
Measure the distance from the finished mounting surface to the face of the armature plate on the open door, then pick the bar that closes it. Camden offers the CX-95S-3E at 3 inches and the CX-95S-7E at 7 inches. The 3 inch bar handles a shallow setback such as a baseboard or trim reveal; the 7 inch is for deeper recesses, a wall pocket, or a column that stands well clear of the door. Both are for the same CX-95S holder family.
3) Will the 7 inch extension bar work with a floor mounted Camden door holder?
Yes. Camden lists the 3 inch and 7 inch extension bars as options for the CX-95S magnetic door holder line, which covers both the CX-95S-DH surface or flush mount holder and the CX-95S-DH-FL floor mount version. The bar mounts between the holder base and the magnet head in either configuration.
4) Does adding a Camden extension bar change the voltage or wiring of the door holder?
No rewiring is involved. The CX-95S-7E is a mechanical standoff; the holder itself stays on its own supply. Camden CX-95S holders are tri-volt and run on 12/24V AC/DC or 120V AC, drawing 55mA at 12V AC, 32mA at 24V AC, 34mA at 24V DC, and 30mA at 120V AC. Pick your voltage at the holder, not at the bar.
5) My door does not sit square to the magnet after adding a standoff. Is there any adjustment?
There is. The armature plate on the Camden CX-95S door holder adjusts to door alignment, so a door that lands slightly off angle against the magnet face can still seat fully. Set the extension bar length first so the magnet sits where the open door reaches it, then dial the plate in for contact.
6) Is the Camden 7 inch extension bar rated for commercial buildings?
It is commercial hardware. The CX-95S holders it extends are UL listed and used for door release in public, industrial and commercial buildings, with Camden naming apartment buildings, schools, hotels, hospitals, and offices. The holders are fail-safe, so they drop the door on loss of power or on an alarm signal.
