1) Does the Camden CM-2200 key switch come with a mortise cylinder?
No cylinder is included with the CM-2200 narrow stile key switch. You order the mortise cylinder and cam separately, and the switch accepts virtually any 1 inch to 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder, so you can key it into the building's existing system.
2) Can I wire a Camden CM-2200 key switch directly to a maglock or door strike circuit?
The contacts are rated 6 amps, which covers typical 12V or 24V strike, maglock and access control input loads. The switch is a momentary SPST normally open contact, so it gives a pulse to release rather than a maintained on/off. If you need maintained hold-open, this is not the switch for that.
3) What is the difference between the CM-2200 and the CM-2200-7212?
Switch action is the same on both: SPST momentary, normally open. The CM-2200-7212 adds a red/green 12V LED to the faceplate so you get a visual indication of door or system status at the switch. The plain CM-2200 has no indicator.
4) Is the Camden CM-2200 key switch rated for outdoor or unheated areas?
Its stated temperature range is 32F to 85F, so it belongs in conditioned interior locations. A vestibule that drops below freezing or a hot exterior wall is outside that range.
5) Does the CM-2200 need a network connection or control board to work?
No network involved. It is a hardwired mechanical key switch with no wireless communication, so it drops into an existing access control input, strike circuit or maglock loop as a dry contact. The mounting bracket ships pre-assembled to cut install time.
6) How durable is the CM-2200 for a high traffic entrance?
The switch is rated for 100,000 cycles, in a stainless steel faceplate. For a property manager standardizing entries, that is a switch built for repeated daily keyed use rather than an occasional-use residential device; it is a commercial product.
