Camden Door Controls CM-AF141SO – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Camden CM-AF140 dome light fit a standard single gang electrical box?
Yes. The CM-AF140 Series mounts into an in-wall single gang electrical box, and a trim ring is included in the parts kit if the box opening needs covering. The device body measures 4-1/2"H x 3"W x 2"D (114mm x 76.2mm x 51mm), so it sits proud of the wall by about 2 inches.
2) What voltage and current does the Camden CM-AF140 dome light and sounder need?
It runs on 12 or 24V, AC or DC. Draw depends on the model: the CM-AF141SO pulls 60 mA max, and the CM-AF142SO pulls 70 mA max as a single color or 130 mA max in multi-color. Size your power supply and factor that into your voltage drop on long runs.
3) Does the Camden CM-AF140 meet Ontario Building Code for universal washroom emergency notification?
Camden builds the CM-AF140 Series to meet the latest Ontario Building Code requirements for emergency notification in universal restrooms. The lens carries 'Assistance Required' text in red, and French and bilingual lens text is available for Quebec and bilingual jurisdictions.
4) Difference between the white LED and multi-color LED versions of the Camden CM-AF140?
The dome light comes two ways: a single white LED, or a multi-color LED. The multi-color unit lets you signal different conditions with different colors from one device, at the cost of higher current draw (130 mA max versus 70 mA max on one color for the CM-AF142SO). If you only need a single alert state, the white unit keeps the load down.
5) Is the Camden CM-AF140 loud enough for a restroom emergency call station?
The sounder is rated 93 db at 1 meter and is adjustable, so you can dial it back in a small tiled restroom where it would otherwise be punishing, or run it up in a corridor application.
6) Can the Camden CM-AF140 dome light go outside a door or in a wet area?
It is built for it. The housing is impact resistant polycarbonate, weather and vandal resistant, and a rubber gasket is included to seal it against the wall. Operating range is 32F to 176F (0C to 80C), so it is fine for exterior use in above-freezing conditions but not rated down into sub-freezing temperatures.
7) Is the Camden CM-AF140 a wireless device or does it need to be wired?
Wired only. There is no wireless communication in the CM-AF140 Series, so it needs a 12/24V AC/DC feed and a trigger run back to your call station or access control panel in the single gang box.
8) Will the LED be visible in a daylit corridor or a bright lobby?
Yes. The dome uses super bright LEDs specifically so the signal reads in daylight, and the low current draw means you can run several units off a modest supply without stepping up the power.
