1) Will the Camden CV-7400 reader work with my existing HID and AWID proximity cards?
Yes. The CV-7400 is a 125 MHz proximity reader that supports both HID and AWID credentials, so existing cards and fobs on either of those formats will read without reissuing the population.
2) Can the Camden CV-7400 prox reader mount on a narrow aluminum door mullion?
Yes, it's a mullion-style reader, so the housing is narrow enough to mount on the vertical mullion of an aluminum storefront or on a door frame where a full single-gang reader won't fit.
3) Can the Camden CV-7400 be mounted outdoors on an exterior gate or entry?
It's built for it. The housing is a rugged weather-resistant design and the electronics are sealed in tamper and weather resistant epoxy potting, which is what protects the board against moisture and against someone prying the reader off the mullion to short the wiring.
4) Will the CV-7400 reader connect to my existing access control panel?
It outputs Wiegand, the standard reader-to-panel protocol, so it wires to any controller or access panel that accepts a Wiegand reader input. It is a reader only, not a standalone controller, so a panel or door controller has to be part of the job.
5) What read range should I expect from the CV-7400 proximity reader?
Up to 5 inches (127 mm) with a standard prox card. Plan the mounting location so the credential presentation point is within that distance; metal mounting surfaces will pull the practical range toward the low end.
6) Does the CV-7400 support smartphone or Bluetooth credentials?
No. The CV-7400 is a 125 MHz proximity reader for cards and fobs. If you need smartphone credentials, that is handled by Camden's CV-603 Series app-based Bluetooth access control, which is configured through an app for Apple and Android and supports smartphone credentials via optional Virtual Remote License Keys.
7) I'm standardizing readers across a multi-building property. Is the CV-7400 one model or are there separate HID and AWID versions to order?
