Yes. The difference is wall thickness, not socket size: Schedule 80 has the heavier wall and the smaller inside diameter, which is why it is the one used where the conduit is exposed to physical damage. Mixing them is common where a run comes up out of the ground and only the exposed portion needs the heavier wall.

3) Why use two 45-degree elbows instead of one 90 on a conduit run?

Two 45s pull easier than a 90. Each 45-degree bend counts half of a 90 toward the 360 degrees of total bend the code allows between pull points, and the shallower angle puts less drag on the conductors as they come around the corner. A 45 is also what you want for offsets, for coming up a bank at an angle, and for easing around an obstruction where a hard 90 would kink the run out of alignment. Use the Carlon UB7A 45-degree Schedule 80 elbow where the turn does not need to be square; use a 90-degree Schedule 80 sweep where it does.

4) Do I need cement and couplings to install this PVC elbow, or does it come with them?

The elbow itself is the only thing in the box. Solvent cement is bought separately, and so is any coupling you need. Belled ends on rigid nonmetallic conduit fittings take the conduit directly, so on a straight run into the elbow you cement conduit to elbow with no coupling in between. Plan on PVC solvent cement rated for rigid nonmetallic conduit, plus straps or clamps to support the run on either side of the turn.

5) Is a gray PVC conduit elbow the same thing as a gray plumbing DWV fitting?

No, and they are not interchangeable. Plumbing DWV and pressure fittings use a tight radius that will strip insulation off a wire pull, and they carry no electrical listing. PVC wins where corrosion is the problem. Steel is the choice where the run takes real mechanical abuse or where a metal raceway is being used as an equipment grounding path. A special or long radius elbow has a wider sweep and is used on large conductors, on fiber and communications cable with a tight minimum bend radius, or on long pulls where sidewall pressure at the bend is the limiting factor. If the drawing calls out a long radius sweep, the standard radius elbow is not the substitute.

Yes. The Carlon UB7A 45-degree Schedule 80 elbow goes up to 6 inch, with 5 inch (UB7AP) and 6 inch (UB7AR) at the top of the range, plus 4 inch (UB7AN) and 3 inch (UB7AL) below them. Those are the sizes that show up on service feeders and duct banks, where Schedule 80 is normally specified on the exposed risers coming out of the bank.
