Carlon LN43EA – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What trade sizes do the Carlon LN43 liquid-tight straight connectors come in?
Three sizes of the Carlon LN43 non-metallic straight connector are offered: 1/2 inch (LN43DA), 3/4 inch (LN43EA), and 1 inch (LN43FA). The 1/2 and 3/4 inch bodies carry 14 threads per inch NPT male threads; the 1 inch steps down to 11-1/2 TPI NPT, which is the standard pitch change at that size. Match the trade size to your liquidtight flexible nonmetallic conduit, not to the knockout.
2) Can I use the Carlon LN43 connector outdoors on an exterior enclosure?
Yes. The LN43 straight connector is approved for both indoor and outdoor applications, so it can land liquidtight flexible conduit into an exterior box, pump housing, or rooftop unit where moisture is the concern.
3) Should I use a straight liquid-tight connector or a 90 degree one?
Use the straight LN43 where the conduit can approach the box face on-axis and you have room for the sweep behind it. Go to a 90 degree liquid-tight connector when the box sits tight to a wall, under a unit, or where a straight entry would force too sharp a bend in the flex. Carlon builds both patterns in the same non-metallic liquid-tight family, so you can mix straight and 90 on the same run.
4) What conduit does the Carlon LN43 connector attach to?
It is a liquidtight fitting, so it terminates liquidtight flexible conduit of the matching trade size, 1/2, 3/4, or 1 inch. Being non-metallic, it is normally paired with liquidtight flexible nonmetallic conduit (the plastic grey or black flex, LFNC). The male NPT threads then land in a threaded hub or through a knockout with a locknut on the inside.
5) I am standardizing fittings across a property. Which LN43 size do I stock most of?
For a mixed portfolio, 1/2 inch (LN43DA) covers the bulk of it: whips to rooftop condensers, disposals, small motors, and control boxes. Carry 3/4 inch (LN43EA) for larger motor and pump feeds, and 1 inch (LN43FA) for the occasional heavy circuit. All three are the same non-metallic liquid-tight straight pattern, approved indoor and outdoor, so one fitting type works across the whole site.
6) Does the Carlon LN43 connector come with a locknut and sealing ring?
The LN43 is sold as the straight connector assembly itself. Confirm the gland nut, body, and sealing ring count against what your installation needs, and plan on a separate sealing washer or gasket if the enclosure requires a rated seal at the knockout.
