1) What size reductions does the Carlon E950 PVC reducer bushing come in?
The Carlon E950 reducer bushing is made in seven size steps, all one trade size down (or in one case a half size): 3/4 x 1/2 inch (E950EDL), 1 x 3/4 (E950FEL), 1-1/4 x 1 (E950GFL), 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 (E950HGRL), 2 x 1-1/2 (E950JHRL), 3 x 2 (E950LJL) and 3 x 2-1/2 (E950LKR). Note there is no 2-1/2 x 2 step, and nothing below 1/2 inch. If you need to drop two sizes at once, you either stack bushings or step down in two fittings.
2) Which end of a bell x spigot PVC reducer bushing glues into the conduit?
Bell x spigot means the fitting has a socket (bell) on the large end and a plain male end (spigot) on the small end. The bell accepts the larger conduit or the spigot of another fitting; the spigot slips into a bell or coupling of the smaller size. Both joints are solvent welded with PVC conduit cement, so the bushing is a permanent transition, not a threaded adapter you can back off later.
3) Can I use a Carlon E950 reducer bushing to go from 3 inch down to 2 inch PVC conduit?
Yes. The 3 x 2 inch step is the E950LJL. If your smaller run is 2-1/2 inch instead, use the E950LKR, which is the 3 x 2-1/2 version. Both take 3 inch on the bell side.
4) Will a PVC reducer bushing thread into a metal box knockout or a threaded fitting?
No. This is a solvent weld fitting, not a threaded reducer. Both ends are smooth PVC, bell on one side and spigot on the other, meant to be cemented to PVC conduit or PVC fittings. To land on a metal enclosure you need a terminal adapter or male adapter at the box, and then the bushing sits upstream in the conduit run where the size changes.
5) Are Carlon E950 reducer bushings sold loose or in a carton?
Every size step of the E950 is the loose pack, from 3/4 x 1/2 inch through 3 x 2-1/2 inch. That suits a service truck or a punch list where you need a handful of transitions rather than a full carton quantity.
