1) What trade sizes does the Carlon E985 Type LR conduit body come in?
The Carlon E985 Type LR conduit body is made in six trade sizes: 1/2 inch (E985D-CAR), 3/4 inch (E985E-CAR), 1 inch (E985F-CAR), 1-1/4 inch (E985G-CAR), 1-1/2 inch (E985H-CAR) and 2 inch (E985J). Match the trade size to the conduit run it is going into, not to the wire count.
2) Will a Carlon LR conduit body glue onto Schedule 80 PVC, or is it Schedule 40 only?
Both. The E985 LR body is listed for use with Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 conduit, so the same fitting works on a Sch 80 run exposed to physical damage and on standard Sch 40 in the same trade size. The hubs are solvent-weld PVC, so you need PVC cement rated for the job, which is not supplied with the fitting.
3) What is the difference between an LR, LL and LB conduit body, and when do I use LR?
The letter describes where the back opening faces when you look at the cover. An LR turns to the right, an LL turns to the left, and an LB turns to the back (into the wall). Use the LR version of the Carlon E985 when the conduit leaves the fitting to the right of the removable cover, typically for a horizontal direction change along a wall. If the run needs to go into the building behind the fitting, that is an LB, not this part.
