The A22 is a 2-door controller part of the ATRIUM product range. The flexibility of the ATRIUM system allows it to control up to 500 doors. The A22 has a built in web browser, an integral power supply and includes an RS485 communication bus with automatic detection (no risk of errors due to lack of jumpers or DIP switches). CDVI A22 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How many doors can the CDVI Atrium A22 controller run, and can it do read-in/read-out on one door?
The A22 handles two doors or two readers. You can configure it as two doors read-in only, or one door read in and out. It has two reader ports, two lock outputs, and two Form C dry contact relays, so an in/out turnstile-style opening uses both reader ports on a single door. If you need in/out on two separate doors, you need a second controller.
2) Will the A22 power my maglocks and electric strikes directly?
Each of the two lock outputs on the A22 supplies 750mA at 12Vdc, which covers most 12V electric strikes and many 12V maglocks. There is also a 1A 12Vdc auxiliary output with fuseless protection for readers and peripherals. A 24V lock, or a maglock drawing more than 750mA at 12V, has to be driven off one of the two Form C dry contact relays with its own power supply. Those relays are rated 5A at 250Vac, 7A at 125Vac, and 7A at 30Vdc.
3) Can I use my existing Wiegand card readers with the CDVI Atrium A22?
The A22 reads 26, 30 and 44 bit Wiegand formats and Track 2 ABA, and supports reader plus keypad for card-and-PIN. CDVI Wiegand and MIFARE readers are supported directly, and third party readers work if they are compatible with those formats. It also handles a 128 bit universal input. If your existing readers output a standard 26 bit Wiegand, they will land on the A22.
4) How big can an Atrium system get if I start with one A22 controller?
The Atrium platform scales to 500 doors and 10,000 users and cards. Expansion works two ways: on-board Ethernet links A22 to A22 up to 50 IP-to-IP connections, and each A22 carries an RS-485 bus that takes up to 4 modules. Hardware modules are auto-detected, so there are no DIP switches or jumpers to set when you add to the system. For a property manager standardizing across a portfolio, that means one A22 at a two-door building can join the same system as the rest later.
5) Do I have to buy access control software or a monthly subscription to run the A22?
No separate software purchase. The A22 has a built-in web server, so you program and manage it from a browser over the on-board Ethernet connection, and CDVI includes free software and a free app with it. Quick start-up programming cards are used to get the controller commissioned without a laptop session for the initial setup.
6) What is the difference between the CDVI A22 controller and the A22KITSTB Atrium kit?

11) What battery do I need for backup power on a CDVI A22?
One 12Vdc gel type battery, either 4.5Ah or 7Ah. The charger is already on the A22 board, so no external charging circuit is needed, and the metal enclosure is sized with room for connections. Pick the 7Ah if you need longer standby on a two-door opening with both lock outputs loaded.
