1) What frequency are CDVI CS25 prox cards, and can a 13.56 MHz reader read them?
They run at 125 kHz, so a 13.56 MHz smart card reader will not read them. For 13.56 MHz sites, CDVI offers the CSM clamshell (MiFare Classic 1K) and the CSMD (MiFare EV1 Desfire 4K). Match the card to the reader technology already installed before you buy a box.
2) I need CDVI 125 kHz cards but I also still need the controller and reader - what do I order?
The CDVCS25 is credentials only: a 25-pack of 125 kHz clamshell proximity cards with CDVI encoding and a sequential decimal number printed on each card. It contains no panel and no reader. To get the hardware side, the CDVI Americas A22KITSTB Atrium 2-door kit is a controller with reader package that ships with an A22 controller, two STARPB readers and 15 credentials. Order the A22KITSTB for the door hardware and the CDVCS25 when you need additional cards beyond the 15 that come in the kit.
3) My readers are 13.56 MHz, not 125 kHz - is there a CDVI card for that?
Yes, but it is not the CDVCS25. The CS25 is the 125 kHz CDVI-encoded clamshell card, 85 mm x 54 mm x 1.8 mm, supplied 25 to a pack. For 13.56 MHz openings CDVI lists the CSM in MiFare Classic 1K and the CSMD in MiFare EV1 Desfire 4K. There is also a CSH variant that is HID compatible at 125 kHz if your existing readers are on HID format rather than CDVI encoding. Match the card to the frequency and encoding the reader is already running.
4) How many cards come in the CDVI CS25 pack?
Twenty-five cards per pack. Each one carries a sequential decimal number printed on the card face, which makes it straightforward to log a card number against a tenant or employee when you enroll it.
5) Will a CDVI clamshell card fit a standard badge clip or slot punch?
