1) Will the CDVI SOLARPB proximity reader work with my existing 26-bit Wiegand cards?
Yes. The SOLARPB reads CDVI, HID and most popular 26-bit Wiegand card encoding at 125 kHz, so an existing 125 kHz 26-bit credential population keeps working. It's a Wiegand output reader, so it wires to a controller that accepts Wiegand input, not to a network port. If your site runs 13.56 MHz smart cards or mobile credentials, this is the wrong frequency and you need a multi-technology reader instead.
2) Can the CDVI SOLARPB prox reader be mounted outside on an exterior door?
Yes, it's rated for indoor or outdoor use. The PCB is sealed in epoxy, the housing is polycarbonate, and it carries an IP53 rating. Operating range is -22F to 158F (-30C to 70C), which covers most North American exterior installs.
