Metallics SWPC1212 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Metallics SWPC1212 ceiling wire come with the clip already attached, or do I tie it myself?
It ships pre-tied with the clip on. The SWPC1212 is a clip-only pre-tied wire, so the hanger end is made up at the factory and the crew only has to attach the clip at the structure and tie off the bottom end at the grid or hanger.
2) How many pieces come in a box of Metallics SWPC1212 ceiling wire?
The SWPC1212 is supplied 100 pieces to the pack, each one a 12 foot pre-tied ceiling support wire with the clip already attached. Pack type is listed as reel.
3) What length is the Metallics SWPC1212 ceiling support wire?
Twelve feet per wire. That is the drop length you have to work with between the structure above and the suspended ceiling grid or hanger below, so on a deep plenum it gives you room, and on a tight ceiling cavity you will have slack to take up.
4) Is the SWPC1212 pre-tied ceiling wire an electrical item or a ceiling trade item?
Metallics catalogs the SWPC1212 on the electrical side, and that reflects how it is used: electrical contractors hang lay-in fixtures, raceway, and boxes off ceiling support wire. Drywall and acoustical crews use the same wire for grid support.
