1) Does the AT-6 come with a cover and gasket, or do I order those separately?
Covers and gaskets are separate items. For the AT-6 the matching die cast cover is CV-5, the stamped aluminum cover is SCV-5, and the gaskets are GKN-5 in neoprene or GKV-5 in composition. If you'd rather buy it as one package, the D Pak catalog number DAT-6-CG bundles the body with cover and gasket.
2) How many conductors can I legally pull through a 2 inch Type T conduit body like the AT-6?
The AT-6 has a 69.5 cubic inch wiring chamber, and that volume is what you use for NEC box fill calculations when you're splicing inside it. It's a roomy chamber for a 2 inch body, which is why these get used as pull and splice points rather than just directional fittings. Smooth throats help on the pull itself.
3) Can I use the AT-6 conduit body outdoors or in a wet location?
The threaded body keeps a weather resistant conduit system when it's assembled with the proper cover and gasket, so plan on ordering a gasket (GKN-5 neoprene or GKV-5 composition) along with the cover for any damp or outdoor run. Without the gasket you lose that seal. The body is UL listed.
4) Should I use a Type T conduit body or an LB/LL for my run?
A Type T like the AT-6 has three openings on the same plane, so it works as a tee where a branch leaves the main run, or as a straight pull point with the third opening available for splicing. An LB, LL or LR body only gives you two openings and one change of direction. If you need to split a 2 inch rigid run or want the extra access for pulling conductors, the T is the right body.
5) What material is the AT-6 conduit body, and can I use it with aluminum conduit systems?
It's die cast aluminum, which is the usual choice where you want a non-ferrous fitting and lighter weight than a malleable iron body. The cover screws are retained stainless steel so they don't drop out of the cover when you open it up in the field. The part is RoHS compliant.
