Thomas & Betts GKN-1 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is neoprene the right gasket material for an outdoor or wet location conduit body?
Neoprene is what the GKN-1 is made from, and it is the standard elastomer for sealing conduit body covers against water and weather. Use it with the matching cover so the body stays sealed; the gasket alone does not make a joint tight without the cover drawn down on it.
2) Is the Thomas & Betts GKN-1 RoHS compliant for a specified project?
Yes, the GKN-1 gasket is RoHS compliant, which covers the restricted substances line on most institutional and government submittals. The manufacturer part number to put on the submittal is GKN-1.
