The FE5400S is built for doors 36 to 48 inches wide and 84 inches tall, with a standard door thickness of 1-3/4 inches (44mm) and a minimum stile width of 4-1/2 inches (114mm). Standard door height on the spec sheet is 7'0" (2134mm). If your opening is narrower than 36 inches or your stile is under 4-1/2 inches, this is the wrong device for that leaf.
2) What does the dummy function actually do on a Corbin Russwin FE5400S exit device?
Dummy function means the trim does not retract the latch on its own. Entrance is by the trim only when the actuating bar is dogged down. With the device undogged, the outside trim is inoperative and you enter from the push side only. If you need key-controlled entry from outside, specify a keyed function instead of the dummy.
3) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the FE5400S with lever trim?
Yes. The device body is non-handed, but lever trim and double cylinder devices are handed, and the dummy trim version is ordered as either LHR (left hand reverse) or RHR (right hand reverse). Exit devices are always reverse bevel, so stand outside the door: hinges on your right is RHR.

Projection is 3-1/4 inches (83mm) with the device active and 2-3/4 inches (70mm) when dogged down. Worth checking against your clear corridor width and against anything mounted opposite the door swing.
