Delaney 4" x 16" Push Plate

The Delaney push plate measures 4 x 16 inches. That is one of the most common push plate footprints in commercial door hardware, so it typically lands on the same footprint as an existing plate of that size. If the plate coming off is a 3-1/2 x 15 or a 6 x 16, the 4 x 16 will not line up edge for edge, so measure the outline on the door before you order.

It depends on the finish you order. The satin stainless steel version (630) is made on a stainless steel base metal. The oil rubbed bronze version (613) is solid brass underneath. Both are the same 4 x 16 plate; the substrate follows the finish, which matters if you are putting it in a coastal or wash-down environment where stainless holds up better, or if you want a living finish that will darken and wear at the touch points.

A push plate like the Delaney 4 x 16 is a flat plate with no handle. It goes on the push side of a door to protect the face from hands, carts, and dollies. It gives you nothing to grab, so on the pull side you need a pull plate, which carries a handle on the plate. Common pairing on an office or restroom door: push plate on one side, pull plate on the other. They do different jobs on the door. The Delaney 4" x 16" push plate is a flat plate for the push side of the opening, protecting the door face where hands and carts hit it. The Ives 8302 is a heavy duty pull plate with through bolt mounting, meaning it carries a pull handle on a backplate for the pull side and is anchored through the door. On a pair of doors or a single door swinging one way, the push plate and a pull plate are ordered together, not as alternatives to each other.

Several spacings are offered across the pull plate lines. The Trimco 1010 Series cast pull plate uses a 5 inch center-to-center pull, the Trimco 1012 cast tapered heavy duty pull plate and the Trimco 1013 round heavy duty pull plate both use 5.5 inch center-to-center, and the Trimco 1014 Series half-round pull plate uses a 6 inch center-to-center pull. The Ives 8303 heavy duty pull plate is offered with 8 inch or 10 inch center-to-center mounting for a longer grip. Match the spacing to the hand size and grip the opening sees.

The Ives 8302 and Ives 8303 pull plates are both heavy duty, as are the Trimco 1010, 1012 and 1013 pull plates. The Ives 8302 uses through bolt mounting, which anchors the plate through the door rather than into the face alone, a common requirement where a plate takes constant pulling. The Delaney 4" x 16" push plate covers the push side of the same opening in stainless steel or solid brass base metal.

Two: 630 satin stainless steel and 613 satin bronze oil-rubbed. The 630 is the standard institutional and commercial look and matches most Grade 1 lever and exit device trim; the 613 is the darker bronze used on hospitality and higher-end residential openings. Yes. A push plate has no handing and no center-to-center hole pattern to match, so the same 4 x 16 plate works on either leaf, left or right hand, active or inactive. Order two per pair of doors if you are protecting both push faces. That is one advantage over pull plates, where the pull projection and center-to-center matter and you may need to check clearance between leaves.

On the push side, no. A door with a rim or vertical rod exit device already has the push bar across that face, and there is no room for a 4 x 16 plate under it. Push plates go on push-side doors without exit hardware. Order the 630 satin stainless steel. In commercial finish numbering, 630 is the satin stainless standard and reads as the closest visual match to 626 satin chrome, which is what most Grade 1 commercial lever and exit trim ships in. The 613 oil rubbed bronze is a dark finish and will not blend with chrome or nickel hardware.

No. The Detex P/PN Series pull plate is made for Detex Value Series exit devices, so it is tied to that exit hardware rather than to a bare door face. A 4" x 16" Delaney push plate is a general door-face plate with no exit device dependency. On an opening with a Detex Value Series device, the P/PN plate is the matched part; on an ordinary flush or glass-front door, it is not interchangeable with a push plate.

Match the base metal and finish first. The Delaney 4" x 16" push plate uses stainless steel base metal for the US32D satin stainless finish and solid brass base metal for the US10B oil-rubbed bronze finish, so the plate substrate follows the finish choice. Pair it with a pull plate whose profile suits the traffic - the Trimco 1013 is round and the Trimco 1014 is half-round, both differing in grip shape from the tapered Trimco 1012. The Delaney 4 x 16 is a plain rectangular plate, which is what most commercial and institutional openings use.
