If you are matching an existing run of cabinets, PVD Polished Brass holds its color where standard Polished Brass is lacquered, and Unlacquered Brass is the one that will darken with handling. Each leaf pair measures 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches, a small square-corner hinge suited to light cabinet and casework doors rather than passage doors. Leaf thickness is .093 inch. Because the corners are square and not radiused, the mortise has to be cut square, a router with a square chisel corner cleanup or a hand chisel finish.

If the existing mortise is square cornered and 1-1/2 inches square, the CH1515 leaf matches that footprint at .093 inch thick. It will not drop into a radius corner mortise without recutting the corners square. Screw holes number four per hinge, so old holes may or may not line up and you may need to plug and redrill.

Wood screws are specified as #7 x 3/4 inch, and each hinge has 4 screw holes. No machine screws are used on this hinge, it is a wood screw fixing only, so the material behind the leaf needs to hold a 3/4 inch screw. In thin veneered panel doors that is worth checking before you drill.

Solid brass, not plated steel. That matters in kitchens and baths where a plated steel hinge rusts at the knuckle, and it is why the unlacquered brass option will patina over time rather than flake. The material is listed as brass for both substrate and finish base.

The CH1515 is classed as residential cabinet hardware. For millwork in apartments, model units, or a light office kitchenette it is the right scale, but for high-traffic institutional casework, a hospital or school, you want a hinge rated for commercial duty instead. Nothing about this hinge carries a commercial grade.

Ball tip finials come fitted as standard on the CH1515, no separate finial part to add to the order. They are the decorative caps at each end of the barrel, so specify a finish that matches your pulls and knobs since the tips sit proud and are the visible part when the door is closed.
