A parliament hinge is a projection hinge. The wide leaf spread throws the door away from the frame as it swings, so the door can clear deep casing, thick trim, or an adjacent wall and swing back a full 180 degrees against it. The DSPA4580 measures 4-1/2 x 8 inches, so the extra width over a standard butt hinge is where the projection comes from. Use it where a normal butt hinge would let the door bind on the trim or block a light switch behind it. If the door has flat casing and swings freely, an ordinary butt hinge is the simpler choice.

No, the pin is removable. On an outswing door the hinge knuckles sit on the exterior, so anyone can drive the pin and lift the door off. If the opening swings out to the outside, specify a hinge with an NRP set screw or add a security stud instead of using this one.

PVD polished brass, a bright mirror brass that will not tarnish or need polishing the way lacquered brass does. It is a single finish on the DSPA4580, so if the rest of your openings are antique brass, oil rubbed bronze, or satin nickel, this is not the match and you would want the same size parliament hinge in that finish instead.
