Deltana SWP4740 Switch Plate, Triple Rocker, Solid Brass

The SWP4740 measures 4-5/8 x 6-3/8 inches overall and is cut for three rocker (decorator style) openings. If you're replacing a standard three-gang plastic decorator plate, measure your existing plate before ordering, since this solid brass plate is oversized relative to a standard three-gang cover and will hide a slightly rougher drywall cut around the box.

Rocker only. The SWP4740 is cut with three rectangular decorator openings, so it takes rocker switches, decorator dimmers, GFCI receptacles, or USB devices that use the same rectangular face. A standard toggle switch will not fill the opening. For toggles you need a toggle-cut plate from Deltana's switch plate range instead.

Nine finishes: PVD Polished Brass, Polished Brass, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Brushed Nickel, Antique Nickel, Polished Chrome, Brushed Chrome, and Paint Black. If you're matching levers and hinges across a building, the PVD Polished Brass is the one to pick over standard Polished Brass where the plate will be touched daily, since PVD is a hard coating rather than a lacquer.

Solid brass, not stamped steel with a brass finish. The plate is brass through the substrate, which is why it holds up in corridors and lobbies where a plated plate wears through at the screw heads and edges. The Paint Black option is a painted finish over the same solid brass body.

The cut is the whole difference. The Rocker Switch Plates series, which the SWP4740 belongs to, is cut with rectangular decorator openings. Deltana's toggle plates are cut with the narrow slot for standard toggle switches, and combination plates mix a toggle slot with a round receptacle or rocker cut on the same plate. Pick the plate by the device already in the box, not by gang count alone, because a three-gang box can hold any mix of the three.

It's classed as commercial hardware, and the solid brass construction is the reason. In multi-family corridors, hotel guestrooms, and office suites where plastic plates crack at the screw holes and yellow under light, a brass plate takes the abuse. It's equally at home in high-end residential.

Priced and sold each, one plate per unit. For a fleet order across a building, count openings rather than rooms: a three-gang box takes one SWP4740, and adjacent two-gang or single boxes need their own plates from the matching Deltana rocker plate range in the same finish.

Deltana supplies these switch plates with mounting screws finished to match the plate, so a Oil Rubbed Bronze plate arrives with bronze screws rather than raw steel. The plate mounts to the existing switch strap screw holes, so no box modification is needed for a straight replacement.
