1) Does the Don-Jo 1-CW wrap around work with a standard knob or lever lockset?
Cylindrical locks, yes. The 1-CW is bored 2-1/8 inches, which is the standard cylindrical prep that knob and lever sets pass through, and it is set at a 2-3/8 inch backset. A mortise lock is a different animal, it uses a pocket cut into the door edge rather than a 2-1/8 inch round bore, so this plate is not the part for a mortise-prepped door. Same goes for an interconnected or deadbolt-only prep.
2) The wood around the knob on my door is split. Will a wrap around plate cover it up?
That is exactly the job of the Don-Jo 1-CW. It is a 22-gauge (.032) steel plate, 4 inches wide by 9 inches high, that wraps the lock edge of the door and covers chewed up or worn material around the bore while reinforcing that area. What decides it is the extent of the damage: coverage stops at that 4 by 9 inch footprint centered on the lock, so a split running well above or below the knob will still show. The door also has to be 1-3/8 inches thick with a 2-3/8 inch backset and a 2-1/8 inch bore for the plate to sit right.
3) I'm standardizing hardware across a building. What finishes do Don-Jo 1-CW wrap arounds come in?
Five, and each carries the BHMA finish number so you can match what is already hanging: 10B oil rubbed bronze (613), AB antique brass (609), BZ satin bronze (612), PB polished brass (605), and S satin stainless (630). If your levers were specified as 630, order the S plate and the plates across the building will read the same. Satin stainless and oil rubbed bronze are the two that turn up most on commercial openings, but all five are orderable on the 1-CW.
4) Can a Don-Jo 1-CW wrap around cover a separate deadbolt bore above the lockset?
No. The 1-CW carries a single 2-1/8 inch cross bore at a 2-3/8 inch backset, cut for one cylindrical lockset, and it covers a 4 by 9 inch area at that lock. A deadbolt mounted above the knob has its own bore, and there is no second hole in this plate for it. For a door with both a lockset and a deadbolt you need a wrap around prepped with two bores at the correct center to center spacing, or a second plate for the deadbolt.
5) Does a Don-Jo wrap around plate get in the way of the latch on the door edge?
