Don-Jo 18-S-CW – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I use a wrap around plate to cover up damage around an electronic lock on a commercial door?
The 18-CW does that job. It wraps the door face around the lock prep area, hiding chewed-up edges and old fastener holes, and it carries a hole for electronic lock integration so the wiring and body of an access control lock still pass through. It also has a latch prep indent so the plate sits flat where the latch runs. 22-gauge (.032) steel over the face adds reinforcement at the same time.
2) What size is the Don-Jo 18-CW wrap around plate?
5-1/8 x 15 inches. The 15 inch run gives you coverage well above and below the lock, which is what you need when the damage isn't limited to the bore itself. Measure the area you're covering before you commit, because a wrap only helps if the whole damaged zone sits inside that footprint.
3) What finishes does the Don-Jo 18-CW come in?
Three to order: satin bronze (BZ, 612), polished brass (PB, 605), and satin stainless (S, 630). For a building standardizing on brushed stainless trim, the 630 satin stainless is the match, and it's the usual pick alongside satin chrome lever hardware in schools and offices.
4) Is 22-gauge steel heavy enough for a wrap around plate in a high traffic building?
22-gauge (.032) steel is what Don-Jo builds the 18-CW from, and the part is rated commercial, not residential. It's a facing and reinforcing plate, not a security plate, so what it's doing is covering the prep and spreading fastener load across the door face. In a school, hospital corridor, or office entry it holds up to daily handling.
