1) How heavy a door will the Dorma RTS15 overhead concealed closer handle?
The RTS15 is rated for doors up to 250 lbs. That covers most aluminum storefront and entrance leaves. If you are over that weight, you need a different closer, not a heavier spring.
2) Which spring size should I order for a 3'-0" exterior aluminum entrance?
For a 2'-6" to 3'-0" exterior door, SZ3 is the standard closing force. SZ4 is the strongest and covers 3'-0" to 3'-6" exterior or 3'-6" to 4'-0" interior. 3) Is the Dorma RTS15 handed? I have both left and right hand doors in the same building.
It is non-handed, so one part number works on either hand, and it runs single or double acting. That makes it easy to stock one closer for a run of storefront entrances rather than splitting the order by hand.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering an RTS15 besides the finish?
Four choices beyond finish. Cushion stop point, 90 or 105 degrees. Hold open, yes or no. Spring size, SZ2, SZ3, SZ4, BFE or BFI. And package option: Standard, with the 8563 frame cover plate added, or with a 5mm extended spindle. 5) My opening is offset hung, not center hung. What concealed closer should I use instead of the RTS15?

6) My door needs to swing a full 180 degrees. Will the RTS15 do that?
The RTS15 is offered with a 90 degree or a 105 degree cushion, so it is set up for openings that stop at those points. Where a full 180 degree swing is required, the Sargent 269 is an overhead concealed closer with 180 degree opening capability, listed as heavy duty Grade 1.
7) Is a concealed closer worth it over a surface closer on a vandalized entrance?
