1) Which backset and latch throw should I order on a Simplex 1000, and will it latch into my existing strike?
Three locking options are offered: 2-3/4 inch backset with 1/2 inch latch, 2-3/4 inch backset with 3/4 inch latch, and 2-3/8 inch backset with 1/2 inch latch. Measure from the door edge to the center of the bore to pick the backset. On the strike, the 1/2 inch throw suits a standard strike plate or ASA strike in a normal frame; if the door has a wider gap to the frame or the opening sees some misalignment, the 3/4 inch throw gives more engagement. Both standard and ASA strike plates are covered.
2) Does the key override cylinder come with the Simplex 1000, or do I have to order a core separately?
The core is not included on any key override version. 4) How many user codes does the Simplex 1000 hold, and can multiple tenants have their own code?
One code, shared by everyone. The Simplex 1000 is a single access code lock, so every authorized person uses the same combination. If you need per-user codes, audit trail, or the ability to delete one person's access without recoding for everybody, this is the wrong lock and you want an electronic access control lock instead.
