Mustee 3636BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size shower opening does the Mustee 3636BN Durabase shower floor fit?
The Durabase 3636BN is a 36 by 36 inch square shower floor, so it suits a 36 inch square alcove or corner rough opening. Framing has to be squared to that footprint before the base drops in.
2) Is the Mustee 3636BN a complete shower unit or just the pan?
Just the pan. The 3636BN is a shower floor only, so walls or a surround, the drain assembly, and the valve and trim are separate line items on the order. Plan the wall panels around the 36 by 36 inch footprint.
3) I'm replacing a 36x36 fiberglass shower pan in a rental unit. Is the Mustee Durabase a straight swap?
Footprint-wise, yes, if the old pan was a 36 inch square. The Durabase 3636BN covers the same 36 by 36 opening, which is the common one-piece alcove size in apartments and multi-family baths. What decides the job is whether the existing drain line lands where the new base's drain opening falls, so pull the old pan and check the stub-out position before committing to the swap.
4) What color is Mustee model 3636BN, and will it match my other fixtures?
Bone. The BN suffix on the Mustee Durabase model number is the bone color, an off-white that pairs with bone toilets and lavatories rather than a true white. If the rest of the bathroom group is white, this base will read slightly warmer against it.
5) What exact part number do I order for the Mustee bone 36x36 Durabase shower floor?
Order Mustee 3636BN. That is the manufacturer part number for the Durabase 36 by 36 shower floor in bone; the white version of the same base carries a different suffix, so quote the BN when the spec calls for bone.
