armature. The lock mortise mounts in a door frame and the armature mounts in the leading edge of the sliding door jamb. 1) Will the DynaLock 2600 maglock work on a sliding door, or is it only for swing doors?
The 2600 is built specifically for sliding doors. The lock body mortises into the door frame and the armature mounts in the leading edge of the sliding door jamb, so when the door slides closed and the lock is energized the armature magnetically bonds to the lock face. The armature is mounted so it can pivot slightly, which takes up misalignment as a slider comes to rest. For a swinging door you want a surface mount or mortise maglock intended for that application instead.
2) What voltage does the DynaLock 2600 maglock run on and how much current does it draw?
Field selectable 12 or 24 VDC, so one part number covers either supply and you set it at install. Current draw is 381 mA at 12 VDC and 205 mA at 24 VDC. Size your power supply and your wire run off those figures; on longer runs 24 VDC and the lower draw will hold voltage better at the lock.
3) Can I power the 2600 series magnetic lock from a 24 VAC supply?
Not directly, the magnet is a DC device. There is a pre-wired rectifier bridge option for 12/24 VAC operation, and if you are tying into an existing AC transformer, that is the one to order. Add it at the time of purchase rather than sourcing a rectifier separately; every configuration of the lock can be ordered with or without it.
4) What do I need to order with the DynaLock 2600 to complete the installation?
Four add-ons are available and each is ordered yes or no: an armature mounting block, the DynaStat force sensor, a pair of mounting brackets, and the pre-wired rectifier bridge for AC power. The bare lock and armature come without any of them. The mounting block and brackets matter most on retrofit sliders where the jamb or frame will not take the armature or the lock body directly; the rectifier is for AC power; the DynaStat reports holding force at the lock.
5) Does the 2600 maglock have any moving parts to wear out or jam?
None. Holding is purely magnetic bond between the energized lock face and the armature, so there is no latch, bolt, or strike to bind up or fall out of adjustment. The coil and armature are fully plated against corrosion, and there is no residual magnetism, so the door releases the instant power drops instead of sticking. That last part matters on a slider tied to an egress or interlock circuit.
6) What happens to the DynaLock 2600 sliding door lock if the power goes out?
It unlocks. An electromagnetic lock is fail safe by its nature, and this one has no residual magnetism, so it releases without delay the moment it is de-energized. There is no battery backup in the lock itself, so if you need the opening to stay secure through an outage, that has to come from a backup power supply on the circuit.
7) What is the DynaStat option on a DynaLock maglock and do I need it?
DynaStat is a force sensor built into the lock that reports whether the magnet is actually holding at full force, rather than just telling you the circuit is energized. On a clean room interlock, a tool crib, or an x-ray room where an access control head end needs proof the opening is secure, order it. On a straightforward interior office slider it is usually skipped. It can be combined with any of the other three options.
8) Is the DynaLock 2600 a single magnet or a double for a pair of sliding doors?
Single. One lock body and one armature, covering one sliding leaf. For a biparting slider where both leaves have to be held, you need a magnet at each leaf, so plan on two units and size the power supply for both, at 381 mA each on 12 VDC or 205 mA each on 24 VDC.
