DynaLock 4011 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What thicknesses do the DynaLock 4011 filler plates come in?
Six thicknesses, all on the same 1-1/4 by 11 inch plate: 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inch. If you are shimming out a header or squaring up an armature to the magnet face, measure the gap first and order the thickness that matches. Stacking is not necessary in most cases because the range steps in 1/8 inch increments up to 3/4.
2) Will an 11 inch DynaLock filler plate fit my maglock, or do I need a different length?
The 4011 plate is an 11 inch length sized to DynaLock 2000, 3000 and 3101C series locks. If your magnet body is a different length, the plate will overhang or fall short, so match the plate length to the lock body rather than the door. Width is fixed at 1-1/4 inches across every thickness.
3) I need a filler plate for a Locknetics shear or wall-mount magnet - will a DynaLock 4011 work?
No. Locknetics splits its filler plates by magnet family: the MFP50-MFP63 plates are for the MG Series and the WFP50-WFP63 plates are for the WMG Series, both in 628 aluminum. The DynaLock 4011 is cut for DynaLock 2000, 3000 and 3101C magnets. A filler plate is a hole-pattern part as much as a thickness part, so a plate from one magnet family will not line up with the through-bolt and sex-nut prep of another. Match the plate line to the magnet series stamped on the housing.
4) Do I need a filler plate or an angle bracket for my magnetic lock installation?
They solve different problems. A filler plate like the 4011 adds flat thickness behind the lock or armature to take up a gap on a surface that is already in the right plane. An angle bracket changes the plane entirely, which is what you need on an inswing door where the magnet has to mount to the frame face and the armature to the door. DynaLock covers both in the 4000 series accessory range. If the magnet and armature already line up and are just standing apart, the filler plate is the part.
5) What is the equivalent to a DynaLock filler plate if I am running Locknetics magnetic locks?
Filler plates are brand and model specific, so a DynaLock 4011 will not carry over. For Locknetics, the MFP50-MFP63 filler plates in 628 aluminum suit the MG Series magnetic locks, and the WFP50-WFP63 plates, also 628 aluminum, suit the WMG Series. Pick the plate family that matches the lock series already on the opening.
6) My opening needs more standoff than one shim gives - do I step up to a different plate line or stack?
Stay within the plate line that matches your magnet and step up the thickness. The DynaLock 4011 runs 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inch at a fixed 1-1/4 inch by 11 inch footprint, so the standoff is selected by picking the thicker plate rather than by combining parts. Switching to the Locknetics MFP or WFP plates does not gain you standoff on a DynaLock magnet - those lines are built to the MG and WMG Series housings.
7) Is the DynaLock 4011 filler plate an electrified part that needs wiring?
No wiring involved. The 4011 is a solid mechanical spacer that mounts behind the lock hardware. It is catalogued with DynaLock's electronic access control hardware because it supports powered maglocks, but the plate itself carries no current and takes no connections.
8) I am standardizing maglock hardware across a building. Can I stock one filler plate thickness?
Only if your openings are consistent. The 4011 runs 1/8 through 3/4 inch in six steps on the same 1-1/4 by 11 inch footprint, and which one you need is set by the gap at each opening, not by the lock. On a fleet of similar frames one or two thicknesses usually cover it; on mixed frame conditions, expect to carry a spread.
